In a shock development, England batsman Kevin Pietersen today announced he would be retiring from ODIs and T20Is in protest at Sky Sports' controversial quota system in favour of Nick Knight. The broadcaster's positive discrimination scheme, which has seen the former Warwickshire opener prematurely elevated to the national commentary box ahead of white noise, has long been a source of dispute among England's South African contingent with Jonathan Trott recently being fined £3,000 by the ECB for Tweeting that he'd rather "suck Bob Willis's big toe than listen to the drivel that tit my mum fancies spouts".

After the public reacted with fury to the leniency of Kevin Pietersen's fine for expressing an opinion on Sky near-commentator, Nick Knight, the ECB have now imposed further sanctions on their controversial number four batsmen by announcing 'KP' will only play in Friday's Second Test against the West Indies if he agrees to bat whilst wearing the now infamous blue dress worn at the Leveson Inquiry by former News International chief, Rebekah Brooks.

Following the eruption of a new IPL fixing scandal on Monday, Indian paceman and leading team spirit guru, Munaf Patel, last night issued a furious statement denying allegations he deliberately bowled a legitimate delivery in Mumbai's recent match with Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Patel has come under heavy scrutiny after he appeared to bowl a couple of balls which landed within reach of the batsman and with his front foot well behind the popping crease. The Zen-like quick has now, however, broken his silence over newspaper suggestions that this failure to offer only four free hits in one over

If it were just the flashbacks about what happened in Chelmsford I could probably have carried it on for a few more years. But when every hotel room started to seem like it reeked of unmarked dollar bills and muscle rub I knew it was time to pack it in for something else. I was fifty-two, balding like a Lahore wicket and clinging on to the ropes like a boxer allergic to canvas. I'd been in the cricket anti-corruption game too long and I'd begun to get sloppy. Exhibit A: the thirty-something broad lying next to me with a mouth
